louis cameraLouis van Gasteren, born on 20 November 1922 in Amsterdam, is film maker, artist and founder/owner of several production companies.

He produced his first film in 1952 with Theo van Haren entitled BROWN GOLD. After this, Spectrum Film continued to be the production company of Louis Van Gasteren. He has made countless films with this company. 

Euro Television Productions was founded in 1969 in order to realise productions targeting Europe under the title “REPORTS FROM...” The most recent production is the four-part series THE GRIEF OF ROERMOND from 2003, at the time this was broadcast by the local TV company while Dutch national television broadcast a 90-minute summary.

The most recent production is the film portrayed about Sicco Mansholt, entitled OVERSTAG. Sicco Mansholt was a versatile man with a great influence in the countryside, among farmers, and on the subject of European integration and Dutch and European politics.
This film, duration 80 minutes, provides a glimpse of unique material from the film archive of Louis van Gasteren. OVERSTAG will have its premiere on 12 of them are in The Hague. You can find more information on the actual page.

Euro Book Productions (1975), a publisher of posters and graphic work, is also owned by Louis van Gasteren. It has published countless books including several related to films. For instance together with Walburg Pers, it published the beautiful work In Japanese Rapids in 2000 and with the Lubberhuizen publishing house The Eternal Rice with Japanese Tea.

Alongside books, Euro Book Productions has also realised several postersrelating to Dutch water management, a theme close to the heart of Van Gasteren. 

Euro Site Productions (2004) is cooperating with the EU Founding Fathers Foundation on developing a website about Sicco Mansholt. This has not yet been realised.

Recently, the Stichting Realisering en Ideeën Van Gasteren (Foundation for the Realisation of Ideas of Louis van Gasteren) has been revitalised. In 1960, Van Gasteren made the film NEW VILLAGE ON NEW LAND about on the origins of the village of Nagele. It is now developing a new project together with several prominent architects and related institutions. The aim is to make a sequel to the film looking at the present state of the village (working title Nagele Now)  and  to organise a biennial Nagele Lecture.
