On 24 January, in the Voorhuys Theatre in Emmeloord, the latest film by Louis van Gasteren Return to Nagele had its premiere. This film is the sequel to the film A New Village on New Land (1960) about the origins of this village in the Noordoostpolder.
Prior to the premiere, there was a very interesting symposium ‘Not only Nagele’ focusing on the theme of the quality of life in small villages like Nagele.
You can find more information on the actual page.
Euro Book Productions (1975), a publisher of posters and graphic work, is also owned by Louis van Gasteren. It has published countless books including several related to films. For instance together with Walburg Pers, it published the beautiful work In Japanese Rapids in 2000 and with the Lubberhuizen publishing house The Eternal Rice with Japanese Tea.
Alongside books, Euro Book Productions has also realised several postersrelating to Dutch water management, a theme close to the heart of Van Gasteren.
Euro Site Productions (2004) is cooperating with the EU Founding Fathers Foundation on developing a website about Sicco Mansholt. This has not yet been realised.
Recently, the Stichting Realisering en Ideeën Van Gasteren (Foundation for the Realisation of Ideas of Louis van Gasteren) has been revitalised. In 1960, Van Gasteren made the film NEW VILLAGE ON NEW LAND about on the origins of the village of Nagele. It is now developing a new project together with several prominent architects and related institutions. The aim is to make a sequel to the film looking at the present state of the village (working title Nagele Now) and to organise a biennial Nagele Lecture.
